With the World Cup and a series of heatwaves, there is certainly a lot going on at the moment.
Both of these have an impact on business, late arrivals due to lack of sleep because of the heat (or watching a late match!), with the heat also causing other issues like false fire or intruder alarms because of a heat build-up, which in turn will cause staff to lose even more sleep as they have to attend the alarm (unless of course they are using Wye Security’s ‘Alarm Response’ service – more on this later).
And to top it all, it’s the start of the holiday season now, the kids breaking up for their summer break in the very near future.
Staff holidays bring their own problems to any business, one of which can be a major embarrassment if no plans are laid. The ones I am thinking about are to do with the staff members who open up at the start of the day, and the ones that lock up at the end. If either of these go on holiday without making sure their roles are covered it can cause a lot of problems.
The heat brings other problems too, as, for instance, it is all too easy to leave a window open at the end of the day. This could either end up with an intruder gaining access in a manner that normally would not be possible, or end up with alarms being triggered by gusts of hot air in the building, these ‘hot spots’ looking like intruders.
A Good Defence Is Needed
What any business needs is a good defence against these issues, just like the England team in the World Cup needs a good defensive team at the back protecting the goal. I don’t know if you saw the first few games that England played, but it was all too obvious that the defensive team was just not up to the job. Time after time, the opposition broke through and England paid for it, although luckily enough, not too badly.
The latest game (at the time of writing) against Mexico was a lot different, this time the defence worked together marvelously, and in the end the England team won the day.
For any business, the situation is just the same. They need a team of people to keep the assets of the business, including the staff, safe at all times. Sure this team could be populated by staff members, but unless the organisation is large enough to have its own security staff, it is unlikely that an internally generated team could cover all the bases, patrols at night being an obvious, but highly important example.
You also have to consider whether an internal team are really ‘qualified’ to fill the role. Do they have the right training, can they safely handle an intruder, and do they understand what they can and can’t do in any given situation?
It is highly unlikely that they will have even the necessary basic training, and will almost certainly not be trained to spot likely wrong doers and understand the behavioural patterns that to the trained eye give an indication that something is going to happen.
Get The Right Team For The Job
This is why it is necessary to employ the right team for the job (just as it is for the England team), which, when it comes to security, means using the services of a security firm like Wye Security.
The whole process starts with a security evaluation of a business, this showing its unique weak points and where external help is needed. This could well mean that staff are no longer having to do arduous (and perhaps dangerous) tasks like opening up (this after all happening when few other staff are about and is therefore a prime time for a thief to strike) or having to attend when an alarm is triggered at the dead of night (the ‘Alarm Response’ service mentioned at the start of this article).
Wye At Your Side
There will be bonuses too, with Wye at your side, you can be sure of regular checks on the perimeter of a business both day and night if needed, these patrols arriving at different times and are thus totally unpredictable. Detailed internal checks can also be carried out if needed, it all being down to the level of security needed.
Full Easily Accessible Reports
Full reports are provided as to the activity of these Wye patrols, this being important, as if a break-in does occur, a business can demonstrate that it was taking all the necessary steps to protect itself to an insurance company, who may be looking to reduce the level of the claim…
Better still, the services of Wye, with all the protection that it provides, are not going to break the bank and in some cases will reduce the costs of any business insurance.
